Summer time is the time for fresh vegetables all around. It's also a perfect time to sit back, enjoy the sun and relax with a nice, cold beverage and a little snack. How does some delicious and healthy kale chips sound? All you need is kale, some oil and salt. Super simple to make. A little bit of salt to season really brings out the flavour and aroma of the kale chips. This recipe will only consist of salt and pepper as seasoning as a basic version, but feel free to 'spice' it up with some garlic powder, paprika, dried herbs etc. You'll be finished with your bowl of kale chips before you know it!
Kale is a wonderful nutrient-dense vegetable. Low in calories and a fantastic source of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A, B6, C, K, folate, manganese and more. I promise you won't feel guilt from indulging and snacking on kale chips. If you can't finish the entire batch, store it in an airtight container and it will last 2-3 days. Enjoy!
In my household, it is fairly common that there a few ripened bananas left over by the end of the week. So during weekend mornings, I switch into baking mode! A freshly baked batch of banana bread makes for a great grab-and-go breakfast throughout the week.
The walnuts and chocolate chips are optional and you can certainly mix and match with whatever fillings (assorted nuts, dried fruits) that you like, or just make a plain banana bread. I personally like this classic combination, enjoy!
Happy Halloween! What better way to celebrate this spooky holiday than with some homemade treats!
Today, I have a super simple oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe to share. For cookie fillings, feel free to add or swap ingredients out as you see fit! Rum-soaked raisins, dried cranberries instead of chocolate chips, opting out of oats, adding M&M's... the possibilities are endless. Enjoy!
Banana muffins are one of the simplest muffin recipes to make in my experience. Mix a few ingredients together and voila! Delicious muffins. This batch here was turned into banana oat muffins since I had some steel-cut oats on hand. Experiment with this basic muffin recipe, throw in some dried berries, chocolate chips, nuts... the possibilities are endless! Anyway, here's my take on the classic baked good. Enjoy!
Light, smooth, creamy and sweet - custard pudding is a perfect dessert to follow dinner for times when you find yourself craving something a little extra, or just as a snack! It is a delicious light treat that can be made at home with just a handful of ingredients you would normally have in your pantry and offer satisfaction to the sweet tooth that many of us possess.
This recipe was primarily inspired by "Purin" (or pudding), a packaged crème caramel aka custard pudding that you can find in convenient stores in Japan. This recipe makes pudding that is similar in texture, soft and sweet, but not as rich and filling to the palate. I have provided instructions for both steaming or baking the pudding, whichever you prefer. If you are planning to bake it, remember to preheat your oven first before starting the recipe! Enjoy!
Getting ready for Thanksgiving festivities? The main task of roasting the turkey has always been traditionally prepared by my mother for our family Thanksgiving dinners. As a result, the task of preparing small side dishes and desserts is placed on the rest of the family. If this is also the case for you, or if you just need to bring something delicious to a potluck, look no further! Here's a super easy and lazy pumpkin tart recipe that you can prepare in 30 minutes to sweeten and spice up any Thanksgiving potlucks or gatherings that you're planning to attend! Enjoy!
I love Japanese Cheesecake. It's light, fluffy and so different from the traditional dense American cheesecakes that we are used to. It's almost like a cheese-infused chiffon cake. I first learned how to make this when I was in my teens and have been slowly adjusting and improving the recipe over time to suit my tastes. This variation of the recipe has matcha, a type of Japanese green tea, mixed in. If you don't want/have matcha, skip steps 9-11 and continue as normal. Enjoy!
Here is one of my favourite muffin recipes. Think of days where you want a brownie, but wish for a slightly healthier alternative. It's not too sweet, and perfect for breakfast, as a quick snack and a small dessert! It's a delicious, chocolate treat while providing a good amount of fiber from the chia seeds and oats. Enjoy!
